Masada Opera Festival 2012
By: Jerry Lepre
For those of you who do not know, Masada was the site of a battle between the Romans and the Jews. The Jews were surrounded and out numbered, the Jews stood no chance of victory.
Knowing this, these Jewish Rebels as viewed by the Romans, or Jewish Zealots as viewed by themselves, committed mass suicide rather than be taken captive by the Romans.
Now for the last three years Israel has held an Opera festival at the foot of Masada, this year it will feature Bizet’s Carmen. The Dates of the festival will be from June 7 June 9th and June 10th.
There will be several guest performing as well from:
Martha Gomez a Colombian singer, Andreas Scholl a countertenor, and Mamadou Diabate who is a performer from Mali.
